Welcome Message

Akiko KUMADA

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure and honor that I welcome you to the International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering (ISH) 2025, which will be held in Japan for the first time in 30 years.

If I may share a little personal story, 30 years ago, at the ISH held in Yokohama in 1993, I was still a fourth-year undergraduate student and had just begun my research in this field. Over the past three decades, high-voltage engineers have continuously responded to the evolving expectations of a society that has undergone significant changes.

In preparation for ISH2025, we have fostered strong collaboration between academia and industry and formed a very powerful local organizing committee. Preparations are steadily underway to welcome you to Japan, and we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for all attendees.

ISH2025 revolves around an extremely important theme: the "realization of a carbon neutral society." The power grid is currently undergoing a major transformation, and the accompanying discussion of hardware is naturally necessary. This symposium aims to provide a platform to explore the path to sustainable energy and to share innovative ideas and insights.

We hope that our discussions and efforts will contribute to building a better future. Your participation and contributions are vital to the success of this event, and we look forward to your active involvement in ISH2025.

Thank you for joining us on this remarkable journey.

Warm regards,

Akiko KUMADA, Chair, ISH2025
